Document shift patterns, planned shutdowns, seasonal changes and expected new machinery. Ask whether historic electricity use represents the next several years of operation. A capacity chosen from one unusually high bill can be misleading. Include the facility’s expansion plan with the consumption records rather than treating it as a later design change.
Map electrical interfaces
Provide existing electrical drawings and identify the people responsible for the facility’s switchgear, protection and grid interface. Confirm what information is current and what needs a site survey. A preliminary solar layout should not be treated as evidence that the connection or protection design is already approved.
Plan for roof access and interruptions
Factory installation requires coordination with production, logistics and safety teams. Record areas with restricted access, roof hazards, sensitive operations and permissible outage windows. Ask for an interface register that identifies the responsible person for each prerequisite, including access arrangements and any third-party assessments.
Define operational handover
Request the final equipment schedule, commissioning records, approved changes and as-built documentation in an agreed format. Identify who receives alarms, who can access monitoring and how faults are escalated. Clarify whether ongoing maintenance is included, optional or the owner’s responsibility; commissioning alone does not answer that question.
